(2026) An organic certified Spanish pink, this blends Tempranillo, Garnacha and Syrah, and does not see malolactic fermentation to preserve its bright acidity. It is fashionably pale, and has delicate watermelon and gently peachy aromas. On the palate there's great refreshment value - even a hint of spritz in my newly opened bottle - certainly a wine with sherbetty brightness, a hint of sweetness, and the acid maybe just feeling a touch too bright if being hyper-critical. £8 Clubcard price at time of review.
(2024) I am told by the supplier that this is declassified Tempranillo from Rioja Alta, and so appears under the Vino de Mesa rather than Rioja appellation. It is also a non-vintage wine. There's a little softness to the colour on the rim, and a pleasant nose of cherry and ripe recurrant, with a little vanilla in the mix. In the mouth the oak quality adds a coffee chariness, but there is fruit and decent balance. The acidity does its job to freshen the low tannin finish. The same wine also appears under the 'Casa e Bastido' label.
